Heartbreking: Woman Survives After Her Angry Husband Pushed Her from Their Storey Building Apartment Last Night in Anambra for Preparing His Meal Late (Photos)
Anambra, Nigeria — In a deeply disturbing case of domestic violence, a woman is currently receiving medical treatment after she was allegedly pushed from a storey building by her husband in the late hours of yesterday, simply for preparing his dinner late.
The incident occurred in a residential compound in Awka, the capital of Anambra State, around 9:30 PM on Saturday night. According to neighbors, the man returned home from work and flew into a rage after finding out that his meal wasn’t ready.
Eyewitnesses said the couple, who have two children together, got into a heated argument that quickly escalated. “We heard him shouting at her from inside the flat, calling her useless and irresponsible,” a neighbor recalled. “Suddenly, there was a loud scream, and we saw her body hit the ground from the balcony.”
Photos taken moments after the fall show the woman lying on the ground, bleeding and in visible pain, as neighbors gathered in panic. Some of the images also captured the shattered balcony railing and the chaos that ensued.
Thankfully, the woman was still breathing when she was rushed to a nearby private clinic. Medical staff have since confirmed she sustained injuries to her back and leg, but she is in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery.
Meanwhile, the husband was apprehended by local vigilante members before being handed over to the police. He is currently being held at the Central Police Station in Awka and is likely to face charges of attempted murder and assault.
This heartbreaking incident has sparked outrage across social media, where users are demanding justice and calling for stronger protection laws for women in domestic settings.
“This is beyond wickedn
ess,” one user commented on Facebook. “What if she had died? Over food?”
As investigations continue, local NGOs have stepped in, offering to support the victim legally and medically. Many are also calling for psychological evaluation and counseling for the couple’s children, who reportedly witnessed the attack.
Domestic violence remains a serious issue in Nigeria, and advocates are once again urging the government to intensify efforts to protect vulnerable individuals and hold abusers accountable—regardless of marital or family status.
