"I wish i can see My Husband and my baby’s face" – Blind Nigerian Woman Who Married A Blind Man Reveals (Photos)
In a world where love often takes unexpected forms, the story of Grace and Samuel is a testament to the power of true connection beyond the physical. Grace, a blind Nigerian woman, has stirred hearts across the country after sharing her deepest wish: “I wish I can see my husband and my baby’s face.”
Grace was born blind, but that didn’t stop her from dreaming of a full life — a life of love, family, and purpose. She met Samuel, also visually impaired, at a disability inclusion seminar in Lagos. What started as a warm friendship soon blossomed into love, and in 2022, they tied the knot in a modest but joy-filled ceremony attended by family, friends, and well-wishers from the community.
Despite their shared blindness, the couple navigates life with remarkable strength and unity. “People often pity us,” Grace says with a soft smile. “But they don’t understand how rich our lives are. We love deeply. We laugh. We cry. We support each other. And now, we are parents.”
Earlier this year, Grace gave birth to a healthy baby boy. The arrival of their son brought immeasurable joy to the couple, but also stirred a profound longing in Grace’s heart.
“I hold him close every day. I feel his tiny fingers wrap around mine, I hear his giggles and his cries… but I’ve never seen his face,” she says. “And I wish I could. I wish I could see my baby’s face — and my husband’s, too.”
Her words have touched thousands online since a few family photos surfaced on social media. Although she cannot see the images herself, Grace is proud to know that people now know her story — not as a tale of sadness, but of strength and love.
The couple lives modestly in a two-room apartment in Ibadan, relying on income from Samuel’s mobile phone repair business and support from a small online community. They hope to start a foundation in the future to support blind couples and advocate for better accessibility in Nigeria.
“To love someone with your whole heart, without ever seeing them — that’s a different kind of beauty,” Grace says. “I may never see their faces with my eyes, but I feel their love with everything in me.”
