LAGOS, Nigeria – A horrific and deeply disturbing incident shook the peaceful community of Ejigbo, Lagos, this morning as residents woke up to a gruesome scene that seems pulled from the pages of a nightmare. A 61-year-old landlord was caught allegedly in possession of his tenant’s severed head, sending waves of shock, fear, and anger throughout the neighborhood.

According to eyewitness reports, suspicious activity had been noticed at the suspect’s compound over the past few days. Neighbors claimed to have heard unsettling noises at odd hours but had no idea of the horror that was unfolding within the four walls of the seemingly quiet residence.

The situation escalated when an early-morning alarm was raised by a co-tenant who had gone to fetch water and noticed blood seeping from the back of the landlord’s private kitchen. She immediately alerted others. A few brave residents forced their way into the section of the house and were met with a gruesome discovery: a human head wrapped in a plastic bag hidden inside a cupboard.

The community was thrown into chaos. Youths quickly mobilized and restrained the landlord, who reportedly attempted to flee. Police were called in and the man was taken into custody. The identity of the victim was later confirmed to be one of his own tenants — a young man in his late twenties who had recently moved in.

Photos from the scene, too graphic to display in full, show the house cordoned off by police tape, stunned residents gathered in clusters, and the suspect being escorted away by officers.

At the time of this report, the Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the arrest and stated that investigations are ongoing to determine the motive behind the heinous act. Early speculations point to ritualistic undertones, but nothing has been officially confirmed.

Community leaders have called for calm as authorities continue their work. The victim’s family has been notified and grief counselors are reportedly being brought in to support those affected by the trauma.

This incident adds to a growing concern over the rise in ritual-related crimes and violence in urban communities, and many are now demanding increased surveillance, stricter landlord vetting procedures, and swift justice.

We will continue to follow this story and provide updates as more details emerge.
