 In a deeply tragic and disturbing incident, three underage boys were reportedly burnt to death by a mob in Plateau State in the early hours of today. The heart-wrenching event occurred in the outskirts of Jos, where residents claimed the minors were caught allegedly stealing a mobile phone and a sum of money from a local trader.


Eyewitnesses say the boys, believed to be between the ages of 13 and 16, were apprehended by a group of angry youths who claimed the community had been plagued by theft in recent weeks. Without waiting for law enforcement intervention or proper investigation, the mob took justice into their own hands.


Graphic images from the scene, now circulating on social media, show charred remains and a crowd of onlookers expressing mixed reactions—some in horror, others in grim satisfaction. The identities of the victims have not been confirmed, and it is unclear whether any family members have been informed.


The Plateau State Police Command has condemned the act in strong terms and announced an immediate investigation into the incident. “Mob justice is a criminal offense and will not be tolerated under any circumstances,” said DSP Alfred Musa, spokesperson for the Command. “We are calling on residents to cooperate with authorities to ensure those responsible for this barbaric act are brought to justice.”


Human rights organizations and concerned citizens have also reacted with outrage, stressing the urgent need to educate communities on due process and the value of human life, regardless of alleged crimes.


This horrific act has sparked a renewed call for justice reform, improved youth engagement, and stronger community policing in Plateau and across Nigeria. As investigations continue, the public is urged to avoid sharing graphic photos out of respect for the victims and their families
