 Akwa Ibom State was thrown into shock and disbelief today following the arrest of a young woman accused of one of the most horrifying crimes in recent memory. The unidentified woman, believed to be in her early twenties, was apprehended by local police after allegedly murdering her mother, dismembering the body, and attempting to sell the remains as meat at a local market.


Eyewitnesses at the scene say the woman had been a familiar face in the market, often helping her mother—who was known for her small meat stall—sell meat to customers. However, no one could have imagined the dark turn events would take.


According to police reports, suspicions were raised when a regular customer noticed a strange smell and unusual texture in the meat being sold. Authorities were called in, and after a brief interrogation and inspection, a grisly discovery was made. The meat was allegedly human.


Further investigations led the police to the woman’s home, where they uncovered disturbing evidence linking her to the brutal act. A senior police officer who spoke to the press on condition of anonymity confirmed that the victim was indeed her biological mother.


“This is beyond tragic. We are still trying to understand the motive behind this inhumane act,” he stated. “It appears she had been planning this for a while.”




Photos from the scene, which have since gone viral on social media, show a crowd of stunned residents gathering at the market and at the suspect’s home, many struggling to believe the news.


While rumors about mental health issues and possible occult involvement are circulating, the police have urged the public to remain calm and allow the investigation to continue. The young woman is currently in custody and will be facing multiple charges, including murder and the illegal sale of human flesh.




This chilling incident has sparked widespread conversations online about the rising rate of violence and the need for stronger community vigilance.
