Heartbreaking: A Careless Driver Çrushêş a Man and His Three Children who are writing WAEC to Dęth on Their Way to school this Morning in Kaduna (photos)
Kaduna, Nigeria – A dark cloud has descended over a quiet neighborhood in Kaduna this afternoon as tragedy struck on what should have been a normal school day. A devastating accident has claimed the lives of a man and his three children—two sons and a daughter—who were reportedly returning home from school after writing their West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WAEC).
According to eyewitnesses, the family was walking along the roadside when a reckless driver, allegedly speeding and attempting to overtake another vehicle, lost control and veered into them. The impact was so severe that the man and his children died on the spot before any help could reach them.
The children, whose names have not yet been released, were students at a local secondary school and were said to have just finished writing one of their WAEC papers. What should have been a hopeful and promising step toward their future ended in an unimaginable tragedy.
Locals who gathered at the scene were left in shock and tears, many struggling to comprehend how quickly joy could turn into mourning. “It was too much to bear,” said one resident. “They were a peaceful family. The children were hardworking and respectful. This is a big loss for the community.”
Photos from the scene, which are too graphic to share in full, show the horrifying aftermath—scattered books, school uniforms stained with blood, and the damaged car that brought so much pain.
The Kaduna State Traffic Authority and police have reportedly apprehended the driver, who is currently in custody pending further investigation. Authorities are urging drivers to observe road safety laws to prevent further senseless loss of life.
As the community mourns, Nigerians everywhere are reminded of the fragility of life and the importance of caution, especially on our roads. Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved family and the many who loved them.
