10 Nigerian Policemen Involved in Terrible Accident While Chasing Suspected Yahoo Boy (Photos)

In a shocking incident that has stirred emotions across the country, ten Nigerian police officers were involved in a serious car accident while in hot pursuit of a suspected internet fraudster, commonly referred to as a “Yahoo Boy”.

The High-Speed Chase That Ended in Chaos

Eyewitnesses at the scene reported that the officers, who were in two patrol vans, began pursuing the suspect after he allegedly refused to stop at a checkpoint along the Benin-Sapele Expressway. The young man, reportedly driving a Lexus RX 350, sped off at high velocity, prompting the officers to give chase.

The pursuit, which witnesses say lasted for over 15 minutes, ended in tragedy when one of the patrol vans attempted to overtake a trailer but lost control and collided head-on with another vehicle. The second van, trying to avoid the wreckage, veered off the road and flipped multiple times.

Casualties and Response

Photos from the scene show a grim picture: shattered windshields, twisted metal, and injured officers being pulled from the wreckage. Emergency responders and good Samaritans were seen assisting the victims before ambulances arrived.

As of the time of reporting, all ten officers involved were rushed to the hospital. Four are said to be in critical condition, while others sustained varying degrees of injury. Thankfully, no fatalities have been reported yet.

Public Reactions

The incident has sparked a wave of reactions on social media, with Nigerians expressing concern over the aggressive methods often employed in such chases. While some support the police's attempt to bring suspected criminals to justice, others question the need for such high-risk pursuits—especially when the lives of officers and civilians are at stake.

> “It’s sad. This could have been avoided. Lives are not worth losing over a fraud suspect,” one Twitter user commented.

> “We need better training and response tactics. This isn’t the way to fight cybercrime,” another wrote.

The Suspect Still at Large

As for the suspected Yahoo boy, reports suggest he managed to evade arrest and has yet to be identified. Police authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the incident, but sources within the force say an investigation is underway.
