In what should have been a regular beauty appointment turned into a tragic and horrifying experience, a young Nigerian lady has reportedly lost her sight after fixing a set of luxury eyelash extensions worth ₦50,000 at a high-end beauty salon in Abuja earlier today.


The lady, whose name has not been publicly disclosed, had visited the salon in the upscale Wuse II district to get her lashes done in preparation for a weekend event. According to eyewitnesses and a friend who accompanied her, she opted for one of the most expensive lash packages on offer, priced at ₦50,000 and advertised as “ultra-glam, long-lasting, and 100% safe.”


However, things took a terrifying turn shortly after the lashes were applied.


“She started complaining that her eyes were burning,” the friend recounted in a now-viral video. “At first, we thought it was just temporary irritation, but it got worse within minutes. She couldn’t open her eyes, and she said it felt like fire inside.”


Emergency services were called, and the lady was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors confirmed that the chemical glue used during the lash application had severely damaged her corneas. As of the time of reporting, she has lost vision in both eyes, with doctors stating the condition may be permanent.


A video circulating on social media shows her being carried out of the salon by bystanders, crying in pain, with swollen, shut eyes. The disturbing clip has triggered widespread outrage, with many calling for stricter regulation of beauty parlors and harsher penalties for negligence.

“This tragedy is avoidable,” says Dr. Amina Balogun, an ophthalmologist based in Abuja. “Always ask for the product being used, and if the salon refuses to disclose it, walk away. Beauty should never come at the cost of your vision.”
